Hammie!

So just an update.... Hammie is absolutely wonderful. My beloved baby squirrel is doing wonderful and seems to be completely healthy... I have started him on Esbilac formula and he is taking in about 9ml per feeding. I have to schedule a vet check up for him to have a parasite check and just an overall wellness exam. Thank goodness I already know a wonderful vet for small animals...

He has become so wonderfully affection and loves to sleep in my hands. He hasn't bit anyone but he definitely loves to make himself heard. When it is feeding time, he shrieks as loud as he can so that we don't forget him (How could we?!) and he has also taken to rattling his cage bars like a little inmate.

I've noticed that he has got his bottom teeth and his top teeth are definitely coming in. He is attempting to drink from a dish but I haven't seen him take in any solid foods. I'm sure he will get there... The little booger is alert and very playful. While he was waiting for me to make up his formula this morning he was playing around in my hair.

I'll have to grab some really good photos with my camera, but for now you will have to make due with what I've got on my facebook.

Friday

It's Friday and it also happens to be May 4th. Any idea what that means?

Happy Star Wars Day!

In all honesty it's not something I hugely celebrate but I think it's kinda fun to have a day dedicated to my geek-dom.

In other news, I have made plans for a coffee date tomorrow at 7 and then after that I am being whisked away to Trenton for an evening of fun and laughter with my dearest Barb. It'll be nice to get out of the apartment for a little while this weekend and just focus on having a good time with a good friend.

There was supposed to be a guy coming to my house this evening however it appears that we may not get that opportunity. As unfortunate as that is, he is probably coming to visit next weekend too and I'll get to see him then. I have noticed this mysterious figure becoming more pervasive in my updates and thoughts. I'm just waiting for family to ask me who he is.

In other news, my big bike ride is coming up very soon and I'm happy to report I've got almost $100 in donations so far. I am not the best fundraiser, but it has certainly been kind fun. Now I just have to get my roomie and her boyfriend to contribute to the cause and everything will be great.

I also had a mild attack of panic last night when my phone stopped working. It froze and after I remove and reseated the battery it refused to load at all. I became tangibly aware of the fact that without my BlackBerry I am completely cut off from the rest of the world. Thankfully it randomly started working again this morning and I haven't had a single problem since then. (Whew!) I am thinking I will have to purchase a crappy back up phone sometime just to have on hand should anything terrible happen to mine. Then I can just switch my SIM card and be right back up and running.

In honor of Star Wars Day, enjoy some funny star wars de-motivational pictures ;)

Cream Pancakes

These are a favourite from my Mum's "Old Fashioned Cookbook." They are dense and heavy and if you can eat more than 2 you are an impressive glutton. They are perfect with some fresh chopped fruits and even cinnamon spread. There density makes them perfect for making breakfast sandwiches, you can add the maple syrup into the batter for them.

If you have a chance, try them... You will love them. :)

Cream Pancakes
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup 10% cream.

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, mix together. Then add the eggs, milk and cream. Stir until smooth and lumps are gone.
  2. Pour onto a griddle or skillet that has been greased. (I use veggie oil and a skillet.) Cook until both sides are golden brown.

Love today!

Today has been pretty awesome. I found myself a partner to go running with and tomorrow we will be taking a run tomorrow. I am pretty stoked to start running but also kind of terrified that I am not going to be able to make it. I'll have to get a really good sports bra or even a tensor bandage to wrap with.

My mum helped me out a lot by getting my tickets for my bus ride up to Ottawa this month. She is a wonderful woman you know. It turned out to be a lot more expensive than I anticipated but I'll be able to cover it all next pay I'm pretty sure. I can't believe that by the end of this month I will be up in Ottawa exploring and visiting. I'm so excited.

I also found out today that a man that I'm seeing, who will not be be named, bought me a really neat gift.... A 12ct Ruby from Thailand. It's uncut and not that dark red colour you normally see, but it's definitely a Ruby and it's huge. I don't think I would ever want it to be cut and polished, it's very pretty just as it is. I just thought it was very sweet of this man to think of me when he found it. So much better than a ring or necklace, because this is something that not a lot of people have. Plus how cool is it that it's coming all the way out from Thailand!

In other news I am going to be trying out a new recipe for egg rolls and sloppy joes. I'll grab some pictures with the new camera and post the recipes up if I feel they are worth it.

I hope the rest of you have an amazing day like mine! <3

Been Busy

Lately I've been a touch pre-occupied with things and havan't had much time to really update my blog all that often. Good news is that soon I should have interwebs and I will then be able to update this blog every day and work a lot harder on my blog/book.

Honestly I wish that I did have access to internet, this would be an amazing outlet for my thoughts. Especially with all the housing issues I've been posting out. Yes, believe it or not they are still going on. I do believe my landlords are trying to give me a stroke.

I cannot wait to get my butt out of that place and move to Ottawa. I've been looking at getting a house with some friends. It makes sense because of the amount of space we'd have plus if you think of cost effectiviness, it's no different than owning an apartment. I have been looking at adds online and I've seen a few really gorgeous places that look like they are well taken care of and that the owners have a lot of pride in.

I am pleased to annouce as well that I am headache free.... I finally decided it was time to have a little fun and shake it up. I got a 1/4 of mushies and took 2 grams last saturday. It was amazing, gorgeous fractals and intense open eye visuals. The colours reminded me of gasoline in a puddle. They were mainly blue, green, purple and gold but occasionally would change as the geometric patterns and fractals came into and out of focus. I had a great time and like usual found it to be a relaxing and unique experience that was well needed and deserved. I took the mushrooms around 8:30 and most of my visuals if not all had stopped by 10:30, I felt almost completely down by midnight. It was a relatively short trip but definitely visually intense. I didn't experience a whole lot of thought loops or mind tripping, but I did get the giggley/happy effects at the beginning.

The best side effect of the mushrooms was that I got rid of the constant pressure in my head that I had thought was normal. It has been there for so long I stopped noticing it but once there was relief from it, it made a huge difference. My whole body changed and relaxed. For most of the night after the mushrooms wore off my legs refused to cooperate and standing was challenging as my body adjusted to not being tense. Since then everything has re-oriented itself and I feel amazing. My anxiety about going out has gone down to a mere 2/10 and I have noticed a change in my whole way of looking at things. I find myself less irratable and more motivated to do things. (I suppose not having a headache helps with that.)

I will definitely be keeping track of my headaches and seeing when they start to come back, however it looks like I may have found a viable treatment for my migraines and tension headaches. I was surprised to find that my anxiety level dropped dramatically. Over night I went from 8/10 to 2/10 and have felt myself feeling far more social than I have been in a long time. I will make sure to keep everyone updated on my headaches and progress, hopefully I have at least a few months without headaches before I have to re-dose.

In other news, bills are finally getting caught up and I should have them caught up in time to enjoy the events happening this summer. I will be buying my bus ticket for my ottawa trip soon and then hopefully be getting my Rockfest tickets with one of my pays this month. Can't wait! I'll bring back lots of pictures from Ottawa and all the things I get to do to show you all!

Visit with Josie!

I went to see my baby cousin Josie or Jojo today, she is the most beautiful baby I've ever seen. She had dark hair and the same dark blue eyes that I had as a baby.
She has a bit of a rash, but that should clear up soon. You have no idea how much I am going to worship that little girl. All I wanted to do was to hold her close to me and never let her go.

I also got to see my auntie as well. She is doing really well too, her swelling is going down considerably and she isn't in a whole lot of discomfort which is great for just having had a C-section on Monday of this week.

Tomorrow I will shoot her a text message and ask if I can post a picture of the cute little darling on my blog for everyone else to see. I have a feeling I will be visiting family as much as humanly possible. With summer coming I'll be around a lot anyways, especially at the cottage. I assume Josie will be up there with my Auntie since she has a year off for her maternity leave.

In other news I got all my laundry done today, thank goodness for Mums right?! She always complains a little bit but I think she misses doing my laundry just a little bit. Either that or she is afraid I'm going to mess up her washing machine, which is entirely possible. I never was very good with household appliances.

I also managed to get the rest of my photo's that I wanted to put on facebook uploaded. I have managed to clear out a lot of space on my computer from old videos and stuff I didn't need anymore. It's nice to have a little bit more room to work with until I get an external hard drive.

In other news, I'm booking my vacation to Ottawa with my next cheque. I am really excited! I am hopefully going to be checking out the city and seeing what everything in about. Trying out the transit system as well. I am hoping that for next spring I get into Carlton University for there nursing program. However, that means that I have to start doing my online courses pretty soon through Fleming. That just means I need to get my internet up and running at my apartment.

Anymawho, time to chill out for a little while... leave me a comment or something ;)

Old Photo's

Long ago my Papa Jim was driving down the highway when a drunk driver collided with his car. He survived and spent many months recovering. They took some pictures of him being removed from his decimated car.
